Google issues fix for Android apps crashing

Users are reporting problems with the most popular Android apps

Amazon, Barclays, Gmail, Google Play, Halifax, Lloyds Bank, Natwest, O2, Outlook, TalkTalk, TikTok and Yahoo Mail are among many of the popular Android apps reporting problems today.

As many took to Twitter to express their frustration, Google apologised and issued details of a fix.

Google has updated its dashboard to state it has resolved the issue and users should follow a set of steps to correct the issue if it is still continuing.

Google advises that users should open the Google Play Store and update both Google Chrome and the system application Android System WebView.

Android WebView is a system component that is pre-installed on all Android devices.

The company states:

“We apologise for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and continued support.

“Please rest assured that system reliability is a top priority at Google, and we are making continuous improvements to make our systems better.

“Updating Android System WebView and Google Chrome via Google Play should now resolve the issue for all users.”
