Apple has won a victory in its fight to prevent banks from introducing their own mobile payment services on Apple devices, as an Australian regulator barred lenders from bargaining collectively for access.
Nine months after Apple Pay launched in the UK, Barclays and Barclaycard customers are now able to make contactless payments using Apple Pay.
American ExpressÃ‚Â today announcedÃ‚Â that it is the first major Corporate Card portfolio activated for Apple Pay, allowing Card Members to pay on the go with compatible Apple devices.
HSBC customers will be unable to use the new Apple Pay system as it launches Tuesday in the UK. HSBC had been expected to be amongst the first to offer the system, which allows some iPhone users and to pay by touching their phone or watch on contact pads.
Back in June, Apple announced that Apple Pay would be coming to the UK in July. According to a tweet by HSBC, the service will launch tomorrow (Tuesday 14 July).
