Vodafone UK has announced that they’re going to credit all Vodafone UK customers for any additional costs incurred on their phone while contacting friends or family who are in Tunisia or from those customers who are in Tunisia and trying to contact people back in the UK.
“We’re all shocked and saddened by the news of Friday’s events in Tunisia, and we know that these kinds of incidents affect a huge amount of people beyond those who were there at the scene.” said Vodafone.
From 26 June until 3 July, Vodafone will automatically credit the bills of customers calling into or out of Tunisia to make it easier for Vodafone UK customers to get in contact with their loved ones on either side of the situation.
That means that if you’ve been on the phone to affected loved ones or trying to speak to your friends and family at home in that time you’ll get all of the costs credited back to your account.
Vodafone will automatically detect if you’ve made or received any qualifying calls or text messages since last Friday, and will automatically credit your account by 11 July.
It will also include roaming data for Vodafone UK customers who are currently in Tunisia.
It would be nice to see other mobile carriers follow suit.
