Apple TestFlight update brings iOS 10, watchOS 3, tvOS betas support

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Apple has released an update to its TestFlight app testing platform to support software running in the latest beta environments, and rolled out new App Store optimization and analytics tools for developers accessible through iTunes Connect.

TestFlight now supports apps built for the new beta of iOS, watchOS, and tvOS, which means that you can get feedback from testers on features like SiriKit, Push Notifications for tvOS, new iOS Extension APIs, and more.

Overall stability has been improved, though Apple notes beta apps installed through TestFlight might be inadvertently replaced by shipping App Store versions if the automatic app update feature is turned on. A fix will be included in a subsequent release.

The TestFlight app allows testers to install and beta test apps on iOS, tvOS and watchOS devices. Testers must receive an invite directly from a developer first before they can begin testing with TestFlight. Once invited, testers can redeem invitations in TestFlight to install, test, send valuable feedback, and get updates for the beta app.

  • All beta apps on iOS 10 now include a 3D Touch Quick Action so your testers can provide feedback by pressing your Home screen icon.
  • Stability and performance improvements
  • There is a known issue on iOS 10 beta where beta apps installed by TestFlight are replaced by the App Store version if Automatic App Updates is turned on. If you experience this issue, disable Automatic App Updates. This issue will be addressed in an upcoming release.

App Analytics Impressions
App Analytics now has data on App Store Impressions, which means you can see how many times your app’s icon has been viewed on the App Store in search results, Featured, Top Charts, and your App Store product page. With App Store Impressions, you can calculate how often users download your app after viewing it anywhere on the App Store.

iTunes Connect

iTunes Connect now lets developers view the number of times their app icon is viewed on the App Store search results, the Featured section, from the Top Charts lists, and via the product page.
