EE and BT to re-open stores from 15th June

Northern Ireland stores from 8th June

EE and BT are planning to re-open its retail stores from the 15th June as part of a phased roll-out. After an enormous amount of hard work, a range of measures will be enforced in stores to make customers and colleagues feel safe.

Lee Frankham, BT’s retail director, said:

“At this difficult time for everyone, there is no substitute for personal, local service. We’re ready to re-open our stores to help our customers with the connections and help they need.

“Keeping our customers and our people safe is our number one priority, and we’ve been working tirelessly to introduce measures so everyone can be confident to visit our stores knowing that we can look after them and each other. We’re thankful to our amazing retail colleagues who have been helping customers online during the past month, and we are looking forward to welcoming customers back to our stores”

“We’re also planning to open our Northern Ireland shops from 8th June and are waiting for further guidance from the Northern Irish Government.  We’ll ensure we follow all safety frameworks.”

These new measures include but not limited to:

  • An appointed member of staff will welcome customer’s safely and appoint a member of staff to deal with their enquiries
  • Screens between customers and retail colleagues
  • Optional face masks and vero-shield visors for our people in roles which are mobile involve contact with many customers or roles which can’t be done from behind a screen
  • Limited numbers of staff and customers in store at one time. We’ll have floor markings to help with this
  • Hand sanitiser stations and increased cleaning. We’ll thoroughly clean any device we need to touch before and after handling, and we’ll be regularly cleaning our stores, including displays
  • An SMS booking system, so if a customer visits when the store is at capacity they will receive a text when the shop is ready to welcome them back
  • All stores will now move to contactless payments only and only use chip and pin where necessary no cash will be exchanged on the premises
