Huawei to unveil P40 series at online-only event on March 26

Paris launch cancelled for online-only event

Huawei were due to unveil the P40 series of phones at an event in Paris on March 26. However, the company has now confirmed that due to the Coronavirus outbreak, the P40 series of phones will now be unveiled at an online-only event on March 26.

The Huawei P40 series will launch on March 26 at 1PM here in the UK (14:00 CET, 9 PM – China, 6:30 PM – India),

Huawei said that for the safety and comfort of everyone involved, it would stream its press conference online on March 26. In France, where the event would have been held,

“Due to growing public health concerns, the Huawei flagship product launch, originally scheduled to be held in Paris on 26 March, will now be delivered online,” said a spokesman for Huawei in a statement.

Recent rumors suggest that the Huawei P40 Pro will feature a custom 52MP IMX700 (1/1.33-inch) CMOS sensor. It is said to come with 16-pixel binning, essentially churning out 3.25MP 4.48μm superpixel photos, making for excellent low light performance. There are also rumors that the Pro variant will be able to zoom between a much wider range of 18mm-240mm instead of P30 Pro’s 24mm-125mm.

Huawei has already taken the wraps off the first member of its brand-new P40 series – the Huawei P40 Lite. The handset will launch in Spain with a budget price tag of €299.
