Qt Creator 3.5.0 released, Drops BlackBerry 10 support, Fixes Android Marshmallow Issues

QT has announced the release of the final version of Qt Creator 3.5.0 bringing numerous new features and fixes bugs reported by testers during the development cycle of the 3.5 branch.  The release also cleans up the code, and deprecates unmaintained features.

A nice new feature in this version is the highlighting that has been added to the editors’ vertical scroll bars. You can now easily see where bookmarks, breakpoints, warnings, errors and search results are located in the open document.

Prominent features of Qt Creator 3.5 include better performance when compiling the software with journald support under GNU/Linux operating systems and better support for the Android Marshmallow operating system.

Additionally, there’s better support for Android 64-bit development and Google’s AVDs (Android Virtual Devices) improvements.

For the Windows platform, there’s a fix for an issue that could lead to freezing of the Qt Creator software for a few seconds when a user application was running.

Due to lack of a maintainer, Qt Creator 3.5 has dropped support for BlackBerry 10 development. QNX development is not affected by the removal of BlackBerry 10 support.

Lastly, there’s various improvements to Qt Creator’s own C++ code model, as well as Clang based code model enhancements.

Developers should check out the change log for more details. You can find the open source version on the Qt download page, and commercially licensed packages on the Qt Account Portal.
