BlackBerry Licenses “BlackBerry Secure”to Swiss Consumer Electronics Maker Punkt

Back in August of last year, BlackBerry revealed that the company was in talks with various global smartphone makers to provide its version of a secure Android operating system under a licensing deal as part of the second phase of its licensing strategy. BlackBerry today announced it has signed a technology and brand licensing deal for “BlackBerry Secure” with Swiss consumer electronics maker, Punkt Tronics AG.

BlackBerry files lawsuit against Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram

BlackBerry has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against Facebook and its companies WhatsApp and Instagram for their use of instant messaging. The lawsuit alleges that Facebook "created mobile messaging applications that co-opt BlackBerry's innovations, using a number of the innovative security, user interface, and functionality enhancing features.

MomentCam Hong Kong rolls out BBMoji – Your personalized BBM Stickers

MomentCam Hong Kong has released BBMoji, an app allowing users to create customised emojis and "expressive and funny stickers of yourself" and your friends on BBM. Interestingly, BBMoji appears to be a companion app for the consumer version of BBM, as the app states that in order to use it, you need to have have the latest version of BBM installed.

BlackBerry World will no longer offer Paid Apps from April 1, 2018

Being a BlackBerry developer has always come with a lot of challenges. Even in the Enterprise sphere it has never been a straightforward task. As a developer I've questioned myself many times "is it worth it". Even as a BlackBerry 10 user, I've always felt ripped off "having" to pay for apps that were not only free, but legal on other platforms.
