WhatsApp Carts lets users buy products via the chat app

WhatsApp shopping carts will be available all over the world, allowing you to send orders easily.

WhatsApp has implemented shopping carts for businesses, offering a new intuitive experience for users that allows companies to keep track of orders and increase their sales.

Buying stuff may be a feature we are all used to at most online stores, but the shopping cart hasn’t featured in WhatsApp messaging app until now. WhatsApp has quickly realized adding a cart made a lot of sense following the introduction of Catalogues, which allowed users to easily and quickly view what was available from a business using the app to promote their goods.

WhatsApp says:

“Starting today, we’re excited to bring carts to WhatsApp. Carts are great when messaging businesses that typically sell multiple items at once, like a local restaurant or clothing store. With carts, people can browse a catalog, select multiple products and send the order as one message to the business.

This will make it simpler for businesses to keep track of order inquiries, manage requests from customers and close sales.”

How to use WhatsApp Carts

Adding products to cart

  1. Open WhatsApp.
  2. Go to your chat or business profile of the business you’d like to order from.
  3. Tap on the shopping button icon listed next to their name to access their catalogue.
  4. Once the catalogue opens, browse through the products you’d like to order.
  5. Tap on the product you like.
  6. Tap ADD TO CART on product if you’d like to order.
    • Alternatively, you can also tap MESSAGE BUSINESS if you’d like to ask a specific question about the product.

Editing your cart

  1. Tap VIEW CART to see all the products added to your cart.
  2. Tap ADD MORE if you wish to navigate back to the catalog to continue adding more products.
  3. You can also edit quantity for each product added to your cart.

Placing an order

  1. Once you’ve successfully updated your cart, you can send it to the seller as a WhatsApp message.
  2. Once sent, you will be able to see the details of your order by tapping on the VIEW CART button in your chat window with the seller.


Businesses using the WhatsApp Business app, can now help their customers place orders easily through the cart feature. Cart helps provide a new way for your customers to begin the order process directly, without having to individually message you for every product listed on your catalogue.

Customers using the WhatsApp Messenger app will be able to see a shopping button next to your business name in your chat or when they visit your business profile. Using this shopping button, they can browse your catalog and directly add items to their cart from your catalog.

They will also be able to edit the quantity of each item in their cart. Once added, customers will have the option to send the items in their cart to your business account as a WhatsApp message.
