Samsung Galaxy S8 to be unveiled March 29

Last updated:

Samsung held their MWC press conference and today and , as expected, didn’t announce the Galaxy S8. Instead, Samsung chose to announce two tablets and a new VR headset,

In the midst of their keynote, the company sent out invites to its Unpacked event, which we’re learning will be held March 29 in NYC. The event will be held at 11am EST at the Lincoln Center in NYC.

The invitation for the event came with the tagline, “Unbox your phone” along with an image of an outline of a box with rounded corners, presumably the shape of the new Galaxy S8 which is to be unveiled.

Samsung isn’t the first to choose not to announce flagship devices at an industry trade event. Apple stopped using Macworld as a launch platform years ago and Microsoft used Comdex to unveil major features including Window’s USB support.

Samsung state:

On March 29, Samsung Electronics will unveil the newest Galaxy as part of its endeavor to unbox your phone.

The forthcoming addition to the Galaxy lineup represents the start of a new era, by reshaping the device that has over the years become an indispensable tool in our everyday lives.

Whatever the reason Samsung chose not to feature at MWC, it is clear that the company doesn’t need to launch the S8 at a trade event. It will have no problem getting the entire industry to pay attention for the S8 launch.

A live streaming of the event will be available at andSamsung Newsroom.
