The Yubico Authenticator App has had a new update bringing support for NFC on iOS and more. version (v1.1) of the Authenticator mobile application for iOS now extends support for near field communication (NFC) on iOS, delivering tap-and-go flexibility in addition to authentication over a Lightning connection.

Google launches Focus Mode on Android

Google has released the December 2019 Android Security Bulletin, giving carriers and device makers a fresh set of patches to install. Google device firmware images have also been released to the Google Developer site. Though Google puts out the Android security patches each month, the job of actually getting the fixes to end users falls on the telcos and/or device manufacturers themselves. Those partners vary in their ability to release the patches in a timely fashion.

Sony unveils Android 10 roadmap

Sony has released the list of smartphones that will be updated to Android 10, starting December 2019. Sony Xperia 1 and Xperia 5 will be the first set of devices to receive the latest iteration of Android. Meanwhile, Xperia 10 and 10 Plus, will get the update in early 2020, alongside older devices like the Xperia XZ2, XZ2 Compact, XZ2 Premium, and XZ3.

Google Rolling Out RCS in US

Back in June Google began rolling out RCS in the UK and France, bypassing carriers. Google is now doing the same in the US. If you already have Messages, you’ll be prompted to enable chat features in the coming weeks. If you don’t have Messages, you can download it on the Play Store. Google expects this service to be broadly available in the U.S. by the end of year.

Galaxy S10 update brings more Note10 Features

Samsung has released a new software update for the Galaxy S10e, S10, S10+ and S10 5G that introduces more Galaxy Note10 features to the flagship lineup. WhatsApp users complaining of Android Phone Battery draining

Many Android users are complaining that one of the most recent WhatsApp updates is draining their phone’s battery life by up to 50 percent in a matter of hours, regardless of active use. The popular messaging app is facing a backlash from users who say their devices are seeing significant battery drain after updating to the latest version of the messaging service.

Huawei Mate 20 X 5G now available from O2

O2 is finally carrying the Huawei Mate X 5G, available on O2 custom plans from today. The 5G phone is available to order on 5G plans ranging from £46.03 per month to £64.03 per month.  All plans come with a £30 upfront cost.

Microsoft launches Office Mobile app for iOS and Android

Microsoft's Office Mobile app, which combines lightweight versions of the company's Word, Excel and PowerPoint apps, has been available on Samsung smartphones for some time. At its Ignite conference on Monday, Microsoft announced that the app is now available to all Android and iOS users in public preview
