Nokia introduce HERE for Samsung’s Tizen devices,

Yesterday we told you you about Nokia teasing HERE for Samsung devices and, as promised, Nokia today made the official announcement that the company has worked with Samsung to prepare for the arrival of HERE mapping on select Android smartphones and Tizen-powered smartwatches.

You’ll be able to use maps offline and online for all the location apps developed for any Tizen-powered smartphones and wearables by Samsung.

Nokia bringing HERE services to Samsung’s Gear SmartWatches with ‘HERE for Gear’

Nokia has just teased an announcement that will apparently bring HERE services to Samsung’s Gear line of smartwatches.

Nokia is going to unveil “HERE for Gear” tomorrow in London.

The teaser image, posted via the official HERE Twitter account, clearly uses Samsung’s Gear logo, so there’s no doubt that a Nokia and Samsung partnership is going to be announced.

Interestingly, Samsung currently offers several Gear smartwatches that run Tizen, and only one that runs Android Wear. Only earlier today, Samsung unveiled the company’s latest smartwatch, the curved, Tizen-based Samsung Gear S, which will be available later this year.

Three confirms partnership with Nokia Networks as part of overall €300m network investment plan

Nokia Networks chosen to develop market-leading network

Three has selected Nokia Networks to help develop what is designed to be Ireland’s best ever mobile network following its recent acquisition of O2 in Ireland. Nokia Networks will upgrade the operator’s 2G and 3G networks as part of an overall €300m network investment plan by Three.

Deployment of new technology and hardware will start in September and the project will be completed by 2017, although Three expects customers to start benefiting from the improvements before then.

SRI International Spin-Off Desti Acquired by HERE, a Nokia Company

SRI International today announced the acquisition of Desti, an SRI spin-off venture, by HERE, a Nokia Company, for an undisclosed amount.

Desti is the first smart travel planner to help users find exactly what they’re looking for by using artificial intelligence (AI) to sift through thousands of places, find the best matches and explain the relevance.
